One of two lifts on Slide Peak, normally only the other one operates.Tri-leg tension station.Fixed drive terminal up top.Drive bullwheel at the unload.Yan station and operator house.Looking down the lift line.Short line seen from Chair 9.
It still was there in early September 2020, when I hiked the area, starting at the Children’s Garden trailhead, off the nearby Keller Peak Rd. The bottom lift terminal was stripped out. I can only guess that Snow Valley realized that one triple chair was enough capacity for the short and steep Slide Peak runs, which are only open with sufficient natural snowfall. I was planning on trying Slide Peak for the first time several years ago, but strong winds stripped the snow off.
Does anyone know what the process would be to get a lift like this (that hasn’t spun in decades) running again? Like how long it would take, how much it would cost, etc.? Just curious
I wouldn’t be surprised if all of the abandoned lifts here are removed since it’s now owned by Alterra. Whatever family owned snow valley before probably didn’t care enough to spend the money to have them removed, but I think BBMR will care a lot more about that type of thing.
Noticed this chair is no longer on their trail map.

Looks like 4, 5 and 10 are all part of the mass retirement. Thanks for noticing. I will update the spreadsheet.

I remember when they added slide Peak (to much publicity and commotion). Why did they decommission it? No snow making capacity?

When did this last run and how often did it run when it was operational?

why don’t they just operate this lift again if chair 11 is full

It doesn’t have seats. Still there January 2023. Snow Valley was just sold to Alterra, the parent company of Mammoth, Snow Summit, and Bear Mountain.

Do you mean that they took the chairs off?

Chair are still on. But the lift probably hasn’t turned in 20+ years.

Chairs are on, seats are all missing. If you zoom in on the photos you can see.
