Having read the urban gondola article, could a gondola system be realistic for a system running from Denver to Vail/Aspen? The article mentioned a tri-cable gondola reaching speeds up to 60mph; at that speed & following a straight line, it could be possible to be close to the drive time.

I think the article was referring to wind speed the lift could run in, not rope speed. Fatzer has tested ropes at 18 m/s or 40 mph though… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOPfgF1r7po

Someone spilled the beans. Yes Taos is getting three new lifts in two seasons. Contract close to signing.
