What sort of risks or damages can a skier cause on a lift by hitching a ride from the bottom like in the clip you posted?

You can derope the lift due to the sudden loss of load and resulting shock moving up and down the cable

Would it detach the grip from the haul-rope or would the hall-rope fall from the sheaves?

Saddleback’s former GM, Chris Farmer, has come to Sebastian Monsour’s defense, arguing the tapes were highly edited and don’t tell the whole story. He also says Monsour paid Doppelmayr a lift deposit.

I don’t see Sinclare/Grand America selling SV and SB anytime soon. Snow Basin and Sun valley are still on the Collective and they may be satisfied with the amount of business that that has brought them and are not interested in flooding their resorts with even more discount hunting guests.
