Hey Peter,
You should visit Silver Summit.
They have 3 lifts, including an Alpine Lift T-bar, and one of 5 operating Murray Latta Ski lifts.
Its basically a smaller Manning Park in BC.

My uncle worked at the original Silver Summit and was a lift op when the original lift de-roped. He was the one who hit the button to stop it.

Are they still open?

They closed for a long time, but it looks like it reopened.

I was just on their website, and it looks like they’re still closed for the 2020/21 season sadly. They hope to re-open next year, but I’m doubtful that’ll happen. More info on their website here: https://www.silversummit.ca/

There may be another M-Latta lift in Alberta! Canyon Resort AB has (last recorded at 2008) a Murry-Latta t-bar!

I almost forgot, the Calgary Stampede has a 1960s Hopkins double called “Westjet Skyride”. The lift is slow, but it gives an iconic feel to the amusement park. The lift only operates the 10 days a year the park is open.

Any idea on what happened to the Vista Ridge 1996 Riblet quad? It looks like it was replaced in 2012 with a Leitner-Poma quad, but the lift was probably too new to be scrapped. Could it be the Riblet that Zincton acquired?

The old Vista Ridge Riblet quad went to Misery Mountain in Peace River, AB.
The Zincton quad is Drumheller Valley’s old quad chair (confirmed to me by the president of Zincton Mountain)

Missing Vista Ridge, Mt Joy, Tawatinaw, Silver Summit (still has a murry-latta chair!), fairview, Little smoky, Drayton Valley Brazeau, misty ridge, manning hill, valley ski hill, spring lake ski hill, nitehawk ski hill and eastlink park! Sounds like an Alberta + prairies trip is in order soon!

Correct me if I’m wrong, but there are only 3 public Canadian ski areas left for the blog:
Of course, there are still all of Ontario’s private ski clubs, but once these 3 remaining mountains are photographed, that’s it for Canada! Truly an amazing achievement!

Is that the only T-Bar Murray Latta ever built?
