Is that a modified shipping container as a top lift shack?

Sure looks that way. Looks like they went full ghetto at the last minute!

Maybe they just wanted to save money or theme it a shipping container considering it is right by the ocean and there are ports sort of near it.

Anyone know why they didn’t go with a Chondola on this lift? It will be a pain for skiers to take off their skis after every run once the skiing is open in the winter.

Skiing isn’t really the draw here. Even though it’s got a pretty significant length and vertical drop for the Maritimes, theres just not that many people coming to Cape Breton to ski. There’s only around 130k people on the whole island, I’d assume most Nova Scotia skiers head for New England or Quebec instead, it’s only a couple more hours for more vairiety and facilities. The real dollars will come in from summer sightseeing, hiking, and likely mountain biking.

Is this the eastern most LPA lift in the western hemisphere?

No the Atlantic Gondola at Cape Smokey NS is not the eastern most LPA Lift in North America, the Lightening Express at Marble Mountain Newfoundland is.
