This was the first chairlift at Elk. It originally had the Hall “Cathedral” style carriers, these were later replaced. The only other lift I know of with these chairs was Chair 1 at Big Tupper, NY
Those are cool. I didn’t know Hall ever did another style of carrier beyond the two modifications of the one you see everywhere. Kinda reminds me of the Poma ‘teardrop’ carrier seen in Europe and a handful of American areas.
Hall’s main two models were the wood slat chair used primarily in the 60s and the maintenance-free plastic seat chairs with the metal backrests (Which this lift has). The two rarest models would be these cathedral chairs and Hall center poles, the only lifts I know of to have the latter are Blue at Bousquet, MA and the former High Campbell at Crystal, WA.
Not quite my friends, a Hall cathedral ( we on SJ add “gothic”) was at Mt Holly Michigan and a center pole still spins at small but mighty ski Brule in the luscious trifecta of the Homestead pod.

Old chair 6 is the only centre-pole Hall I had ever seen as well.

Alpine Valley in Michigan has several centerpole Halls, both operating and defunct.

There was also a hall double with cathedral style chairs at Hidden Valley Highlands in Ontario.

I think the drive terminal has to be a Borvig modification or some other modification. I dont think Hall was making overhead drives before the 70s

I find it interesting comparing what two different manufacturers will do, given similar profiles side by side.
