It’s the straps that hold the pads on the seats. Also this is the only bottom drive chairlift at Steamboat. The only other bottom drive is the platter Rough Rider.

Why are there two operator houses at the bottom?

Probably because tower 2 is part of the original bottom shack, but it’s a tiny shack (as are almost all YAN-built operator houses). They probably just wanted more space.

When it’s the time for replacement and realignment like in the master plan would they upgrade this to a fixed triple or quad? I could see them reusing Christie III equipment while getting a new drive and towers.

I think a triple chairlift, likely procured by Doppelmayr.

A loading carpet with it would also be nice.

If they keep having problems with the Gondola, I doubt they’ll do away with Christie III as they’ll need that to supplement Christie Express to get riders up the mountain to access other lifts. Christie III gets used on heavy days.

I think this is the only Steamboat double that has daily operation, as Priest Creek only runs as a backup lift for the Sundown Express lift, and I believe Bar-UE primarily sees use as a backup for the Storm Peak Express lift.

Bar-UE operates daily. I use it all the time to avoid the Tornado Lane bowling alley and congestion below for Four Points, Burgess Creek, and Storm Peak lift traffic. Plus the traffic coming down from the Gondola. Also saves the legs a lot of turns best used elsewhere on the mountain.

Bar UE is a great lift for avoiding “Ice Lane”. Although the lift has great views and is beautiful. The lift is so slow and closes the earliest on the mountain.

What is the Bashor Bowl gondola proposal? Already a lot of lifts in this area

It will go from the base of Steamboat to somewhere around the base of Thunderhead then continue up in a second stage to the top of Sunshine and Sundown. They will probably have to upgrade Sundown to a six pack before the second stage is built.
