The gondola is not built yet. It’s still under construction.

Why did construction take so long?

Several factors starting with the fact that the lift was ordered super late in the first place. Both manufacturers greatly underestimated the number of lifts being built in 2018 and did not pre-produce enough inventory. The steel tariffs might have also forced the manufacturers to switch suppliers.

With the lift being ordered so late, this worsened the other delays and with both things combined, the construction was pushed back so far that it got to the point where snow was a regular occurrence. By the time they gave up on finishing last season, the footings were buried under multiple feet of snow and would’ve needed to be dug out. Road access to anything would’ve been impossible in the snow too.

I think it would be a nice idea for Bretton Woods to install a gondola from the Omni Mount Washington to the base of the mountain itself.
