Crystal Clipper – Crystal Mountain, MI

This lift opened in 1998 in an era where quite a few Michigan ski areas added flagship detachables.

This is by far the longest lift at Crystal.

This is the drive station.
View down the relatively flat line.

If we’re being picky, my vote is Lego Red. I too find them cool.

this lift mainly serves as an access lift for north face, ridge, and backyard, along with servicing all 3 terrain parks and operates every day and night.

I think of this lift as a primary source of the entire mountain. Honestly, I think this if this lift didn’t replace the main street chair and the cheers chair, those lifts would get some serious lift lines I would think. Really just serves as a spot where you can start and end your day, as well as a good place to loop runs before you venture off into other parts of the mountain.

I doubt it would ever happen but I’d love to see a 6 pack here. it gets busy, being the main lift to access pretty much anything, getting used for lessons a lot, having all the terrain parks off of it, and having a relatively low capacity. or possible put in a fixed grip reliever lift from higher up for better lapping of the parks to take some crowds away. I know it’s nothing compared to out west, but the lines on clipper over the weekend are pretty bad for the unexciting terrain the lift has.
