You should go to California next since resorts that you have from there on this lift database only have some of the lifts pictures. It would be cool to see a complete set of pictures for resorts like Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Heavenly, Northstar, Mammoth Mountain, etc.

I’m thinking a road trip through California is in order after Jackson Hole closes in April. This seems like the year for it.

Since it doesn’t let me comment there, at squaw valley, the old high camp Chair used to be a Double, but recently before it was removed, it was upgraded to a triple. Where did those chairs come from? Also why does the trail map sometimes say lifts like the mountain meadow and papoose triples are doubles? Even the workbook entry says it is a 2-CLF for the papoose triple.

I just updated the settings so you can comment on any page. Papoose Deluxe opened as a double chair but with triple model chairs to give beginners more space. Deluxe is no longer in the name and it is now loaded as a triple.

You should get pictures of Iron Mountain. It’s by Lake Tahoe, it’s abandoned and is really cool.

I’ve noticed a lot of the northeast isn’t covered. I’ve found a pretty good website that could be used to cover New England. newenglandskihistory.com. It has details and pictures of, to the best of my knowledge, every lift in New England. Also, I’ve noticed there’s only one resort in New York listed. I can provide info for Hunter. Anything more for NY, I would need another source.

I take all the photos on this site myself. I have already put together the stats on every resort in North America and will add more to the site as I take pictures. I plan to cover more of the northeast in the coming months and years.

I’m kind of on a quest to find the stortest lift on the blog. Anyone know? My best guess right now is the Platter at Mt. Plesant of Edinboro, at only aroynd 210 ft..

Are you every going to do Rope Tows and carpets or are they not counted as lifts?

Personally I think rope tows should be counted because they have operator houses in some cases. With carpets they are so small and so plain there is not much to photograph. Also, most carpets are used for beginners which is usually ski school so wouldn’t it be weird if some guy started taking pictures of the magic carpet your child and other children on it?

It really depends on the nature and importance of the lift, for example, a basic magic carpet won’t find its way on the blog but the Transfer Tow at Alta did. I would include rope tows if I was running a similar blog but I highly doubt that Peter is going to revisit every area he documented just to take some pictures of their least interesting lifts

Atla’s transfer tow is a pretty unique lift. It’s essentially like any other surface lift, but with a rope on the carriers.

I don’t think so because he likes to take all the pictures himself and getting to Europe would be expensive and time consuming. Also he would have to write a lot more articles for lift additions and he would have to add more things to the news roundups. It also might be hard to translate all the statistics for the lifts into English if they are in another language. A way I think it could be possible is if you have multiple people working on liftblog so for example Peter would cover North America and someone else would cover Europe. For the news roundups you could have it where the two people work together or have the people write a news roundup for each continent. For articles not related to news roundups the two people would write for their own articles for each continents. I’m not sure if wordpress would let you have two people work on 1 site and it would be a lot of work to find someone who would regularity update the website in Europe.

WordPress does allow multiple people to be moderators. Keep in mind, everything in Europe is in metric, so conversions will have to be made for length and line speed.

There are fewer than 800 ski resorts in North America. Europe has ~3800 (depending on where you put the exact boundary of Europe). It would take a considerable amount of time to go get all of them. Peter has a regular job outside of Liftblog, so his time is limited. On top of that, it would be extremely expensive. Peter is based out of Jackson, WY, and it is a fraction of the cost to travel around North America compared to going to Europe.

I don’t think Mexico fits into the manufacturer category of Canada and US. For example, they get Leitner gondolas in Mexico park while we get Leitner-Poma ones. Also Mexico can be a dangerous place compared to the US and Canada.

While there are definitely some places in Mexico that aren’t the safest, the places where the gondolas are should be fine. Even if it’s European manufacturing, it’s still in North America and is included in Peter’s new lift spreadsheets.

Mine has been giving me trouble a lot recently even after clearing all cookies in chrome. It works for a session and then when I come back on later it doesn’t work again. I’m using chrome on a mac if that’s useful. Kind of frustrating.

I’m very sorry. WordPress says everything is fine on their end. It’s particularly frustrating that Google Chrome won’t cooperate with Google Sheets considering they are from the same company. For what it’s worth, I use Chrome and haven’t experienced the issue. But I know many others have.

Firefox user checking in here. After deleting all cookies and cache from all google.com domains/websites, the spreadsheets are working again for me. However, as soon as I log into my Google account (to access my e-mail), the spreadsheets break on this website. Perhaps there’s some sort of weird permissions issue going on? For now, I just have to use this website in a different Firefox instance that doesn’t have me logged into my Google account.

I am using Google Chrome and have ran into the spreadsheet issue. I’ve found that if I open an Incognito window I am able to access the spreadsheets without any issues.

When the Canada Border reopens, are you going to get Ontario?

Does Greenland count as North America? If it does would Peter get it? I know there are at least 2 ski areas. The biggest is Solbakken with a t-bar and the other one is Tosebakken which I believe has a platter.
Also, are you going to get the gondolas in Mexico at some point? It would be interesting to see them.

Tupilak also has one T-Bar, Nuuk has two J-Bars, and Tosebakken has a rope tow (not a platter)

Nuuk, Sisimiut (Tosebakken), Tupilak, and Tasiilaq (I don’t know what lift it has) have the only functional ski lifts in Greenland.
