Interesting how the ladders are rotated 90 degrees from the tower. It makes sense considering the tilt of the towers, but it’s still really interesting.
The lift is named after Joe ‘Little Horse’ Romero, who was our welder/machinist at Copper for a long time and spent his weekends teaching skiing at Cooper.
This seemed to be running way faster than anything else on the mountain today. Really nice, distinct trail pod. There was almost never a line, but when small kids or snowboarders approached, you could count on multiple misloads.
You were there too? I went for a nice chill afternoon to get out of the house. If you saw a tele skier in tan pants and a blue jacket, that was me :)
Pretty sure they run that at 3 m/s, same as our Storm King t-bar, so definitely faster than anything else there. My youngest daughter runs the bottom station quite a bit, and she’s got great stories of those misloads….
The Superb Owl Celebration seems to be the best mid-winter weekend day to ski. People either forget to go or leave early. Been the same everywhere I’ve worked and/or skied. I dig.
The sheave assemblies are the only part from Italy used on the towers, the tower heads and walkways came from SLC

Yep, design speed is 3m/s (590fpm), and we usually aim to run it right around there.
