Who knows where this was relocated from?

I believe it relocated from moonlight basin in exchange for the original chair 7 which is now the headwaters lift there

Oh so breck isn’t the only one that has something like this.

Breck’s T-Bar at least has a legitimate reason for doing the triangle approach. This one, the uphill line looks to be about as steep as the downhill line.

Never been there with the tbar operating, do you have to ride to the top, or can you just get off and pick your line?

I would be very surprised if they let you unload wherever you want. T-bars need to retract in a controlled fashion, and the unload areas are designed to take that into account. If you unload partway up you could derope the lift. We definitely frown upon that behavour here on our two surface lifts.

Not to mention that you can just ski back down the ridge to whatever line you want.

While I see your logic, the towers and terminals are noticeably different.

This lift is unique, and frustrating, in that its bottom terminal requires a short hike to reach. I am not sure why they did this, as it seems as though they could have either moved it downhill or done some grading work.

It’s a funny little lift like you have suggested. I think the short but abrupt hike is to help weed out a few. The unskilled snowboarder can have quite the ride up the final pitch. I have seen them just get drug without letting go, quite hilarious. We do sometimes drop out early and didn’t realize that was bad.
