Real estate projects in 2019 at Big Sky included two new chairlifts on opposite sides of the resort. It ran decently fast when I was there. In my opinion, it should run 0 ft/min (it shouldn’t run at all). I don’t think anybody rode it since the real estate off of it is not complete yet.
This Lift currently has 1 completed house that is accessed from it, which is currently occupied. it is run primarily for people looking to buy lots and tour the development. Pretty silly if you ask me, but that’s the real estate business for ya! It will have ski access in the future, with an access run which would connect the top with the bottom of six shooter.
Considering this is only for foot traffic and has such low capacity it seems like it would have made more sense to put in a jigback or pulse gondola with just 2 or 4 8-person cabins like the new lift in YC.

is there a way to carry skis if you are skiing big sky, which i imagine most of the traffic does?

I would imagine that this runs painfully slow due to being only for foot traffic, much less than the design speed of 500 fpm.

When I rode around 1:00 today, the lifty said I was the first non-employee of the day.

We are definitely talking tiny numbers here, the day I rode it there were maybe 5 rides, and that was a lot for that lift.

This lift has been renamed to Jayhawk, according to the new 2020-2021 map.
