By the way, we have planned trips to the following:
Mt. Hood, OR
Mt. Bachelor, OR
Sugarloaf, ME
Sunday River, ME
Smuggler’s Notch, VT
And of course, various local resorts
That means most of the lifts at these places will be recorded!

I’m planning to provide some pics of New York lifts to here. Gore, Whiteface, and Windham particularly.

Peter doesn’t use anyone else’s pictures, only his own. I have a whole set from Greek Peak and offered it to him, but he told me that.

Just curious, what is his reasoning behind that?

First of all, I’m open to and grateful for others who want to provide pictures for the site. So far there have only been a few people who have offered as it takes significant time and money to go around and do it.
The pictures of Greek Peak that Northeast Chairlifts offered me were taken with a GoPro with the fisheye look that is very different from the rest of the pictures on the site. One reason why I like to go and take them myself is it gives me a reason to go and ski new places. I’m open to posting pictures from others but looking for them to be of similar style and quality to the ones already on the site.

Ah ok, it makes sense now. So if I went to places and took pictures with a regular camera, you would take them?

Also, are you aware that Google Sheets isn’t working, and hasn’t been for the last like week?

It’s working fine for me. Try clearing your browser’s cache.

Wait it’s just Google Chrome, sorry. I tried it on Edge and it works fine. I just sent you some pictures via email, check them out.

You would think Google Docs and Google Chrome would play nice together. I use Chrome and haven’t had any issues with the spreadsheets but I know others have. Sorry.

I know right, Google doesn’t cooperate with itself, haha. Did you get the email?

I was confused about Northeast Chairlifts’ original comment because I asked Peter earlier if I could help provide some New York and Vermont lift pictures since I ski there most often and they are also the states that need the most. I often try and ride every lift on the mountain when I ski a new place, so I would just take pictures of them. Pretty easy to do. My home mountain is Whiteface and I probably already have a bunch of pictures of every lift, but if I was to provide anything to here, I would take them specifically for that purpose so it would be better quality.

Well, I offered some pictures to him earlier this year, but he declined them, but he didn’t tell me it was because of the quality. So I simply assumed that he just didn’t accept other people’s pictures.

so happy you got more NY resorts, but none in my area! If you always want, I can photograph for you, I plan to take more pictures this winter with my new camera!

I never believed that New York has 50 operating ski areas … but now Peter’s gone and photographed over 40 of them! Aside from a few rope-tow operations, the only missing ones I could find (as of Feb 2021) were:
– Cazenovia Ski Club (private)
– McCauley Mountain
– Val Bialas (temporarily closed)
– Victor Constant (West Point)
Hopefully at some point soon we can add Big Tupper to that list.

Isn’t Big Tupper operating with two of their lifts or did they go under again?

Still missing is the T-Bar at Ridin Hy and Double Chair at Double H Ranch. Double H has a pic of people sitting in the chair on their site but cant find much info on it. They changed from a ranch style family resort to an adaptive area like the former Hidden Valley NJ.

Looks like the chair at Double H is a Hall double with CTEC chairs.

They were closed for 6 seasons, but they are coming back for 21-22 last I heard. I’m sure Peter will get there, just a matter of time. Their pomalifts look really interesting.

If anyone goes to Belleayre soon, take a drive past the access road for the overlook lodge and go up to the old Highmount Ski Area. It was shut down when the Davenport family ran out of money and nothing was ever sold or removed so you can still see the old lifts, t-bars etc there. It’s a fun look back at the past!
