The chairlift at the 1974 Spokane Worlds Fair was definitely a Riblet double with center pole chairs and safety bars. It was painted white. It’s was my first chairlift and one of my earliest memories.
As of atleast the whole 2022 season, this lift is not open, and has its chairs taken off, according to info and pictures from someone I know. Would be sad to see another SLI gone
Im pretty sure the lift from Spokane’s world fair was Riblet, after seeing some old photos.

I don’t think a lift threads through a roller coaster anywhere else.

The Sky Ride at Busch Gardens Tampa also goes under and over a coaster (Cheetah Hunt) but its definitely very rare.

In both cases, the roller coaster came later. Cheetah Hunt’s S-turns were deliberately designed with the first crossing of the skyride in mind.

Imagine if they needed to evacuate the lift. They would have to shut the entire coaster down…

Bad maintenance (rust prevention in this case) did it in. Moral of the story: prevent rust before it becomes serious!!
