Even though this lift was built after the non-compete agreement expired, and was thus 100% new, it has the Borvig style spoked sheaves to match The Comet, rather than the Leitner style sheaves found on most new Partek lifts. The alignment is also different than the double it replaced. It is one trail over to looker’s right, and starts and ends higher.
Doppelmayr owned a stake in Partek starting around 2005. As part of this, there was a non-compete agreement that Partek could not build 100% new lifts. There had to be at least some refurbished parts. That expired around 2010, and 100% new Partek lifts started being built again. I’m not sure if Doppelmayr still owns a stake in them or not. It’s a complicated deal, and not much information is available publicly about it.
I talked with Lazlo Vajtay, owner of Plattekill about this. Seems to know his fair share about lifts in general, plus quite a bit about lifts in the Catskills. Although he never worked with Partek before (All 3 of Plattekill’s lifts are/were Hall) he basically confirmed that Partek is operating independently of Doppelmayr as of recently. The stories that I’ve heard about this seem to line up too.
