The bottom terminal settled upon the lakebed, and the lift was partially dissassembled. However, most of the towers (and maybe the top terminal?) remain standing. Here’s a pic when the lift was in operation:
And if you look closely through the forest on the right in this picture, you can see a CTEC tower through the woods:
Why didn’t they try to relocate what was left of the CTEC to supplement the main lift? The drive should be fine and I’m sure Skytrac could help with some of the relocation. Is Whitecap hurting for money?
The chair labeled “north pole/south pole” has more commonly been referred to the as the “mile long double” or just long chair. Although the stats here seem to indicate some marketing exaggeration was included in that name.
The vertical rise of the “long lift” is listed as 652′. Is that the sum of both sides or does it really service 652 feet of vertical, making it one of the tallest hills in the midwest? Most sources say 400′ (which is probably an exaggeration since most midwest hills inflate their vertical)
Also, I heard that it didn’t run at all last season (2021-22). Is this correct?
No idea about the last part, but I do know that sometimes for up-and-over lifts the listed vertical rise is the sum of the vertical rise of each side, so that might be why it seems higher than expected.
What happens to the triple?

I found a few more photos of the abandoned top terminal of the CTEC on Google Maps.

I just emailed Whitecap Mountains, asking them about the CTEC. Here’s what they responded:
Hello Wyatt,
The CTEC lift has not been operational for about18 years. We are looking at potentially reopening it sometime in the future.
Thank you,
