This is the last remaining Hall center pole double at Devil’s Head.View down the wooded lift line.Tower 8 is right next to the top terminal.Upper part of the line.View down the lift.Tower 5 of 8.The bottom terminal, counterweight and tower 1 are all enclosed by a wooden cover.Loading area.Drive bullwheel.Counterweight.
I know why this lift got closed for ever and then eventually removed. I got a video here I will insert in this text box, but what happened was really really bad… this happened 11 years ago. The 00 double had suddenly lost power and started a rollback. (Where the ski lift goes backwards) and chairs piled up and then closed the lift for ever, and leaving it abandoned until 10 years later it was pulled out. If I was a ski lift, i would call that the worst way to go out. Here’s the graphic video. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=r78g9mG2ugg
Both of the Alpine Valley’s and Devil’s Head were run by the same family. At this point, AV MI has been sold to Vail, but they kept the same design. Interestingly AV WI didn’t have those style covers as far as I can tell, though that park went detach pretty quick. DH has yet to go detach, going all in on Doppelmayr fixed quads for some reason
On the trail map this lift runs parallel with the 0 triple but is it really over 1000ft longer?
