You missed 4 more resorts
1. June Mountain
2. Kratka Ridge
3. Bear Mountain (Not Bear Valley)
4. Snow Summit
NOTE: In Kratka Ridge, on of the lifts got destroyed in an avalanche during a large storm during February 11-13th, 2001
When will you do the rest of the resorts?

Also missing Mt. Shasta, Mt. Baldy, Mountain High East and West. Someday!

Don’t forget mountain high NORTH. it used to be called ski sunrise and table mountain before that. I taught skiing there briefly back in the late 70s. Mountain high bought it 15 or 20 years ago but I don’t think it’s operated since then. Maybe for tubing but I don’t know. There is one chairlift there and possibly a couple of ancient poma lifts.

You’re got the retired lifts on Mammoth but none of them link to anything. Surely you have info / photos you can post on those older lifts.

You are still missing Mt. Rose.

Mt. Rose is under Nevada. The ones I am missing in California are June Mountain, Mt. Shasta, Coppervale, Alameda County Fairgrounds, Orange County Fair, LA Fairplex and Cal Expo.

Whoops, I didn’t realize that. I was just thinking of the generalized Lake Tahoe area. Thanks for the info.

Curious about Eureka Plumas Ski Bowl, 2 pomas, and the skeleton of the bottom terminal of Mainline (from Squaw Valley?)

I believe plumas eureka is now called johnsville ski bowl and is trying to raise money to complete the chairlift

Yes, they are trying to install it, they just need funding. They got a generator for the base lodge recently and are now looking to get a generator for the chair (they must not have powerline access to there). They’re just awaiting funding. It’ll be neat to see what it looks like when the lift gets running again, which it hasn’t since 2011 when it was Mainline at squaw. Fire up the classic Yan Double!

“Johnsville Historic Ski Bowl” is what they’re calling it. “Historic” because it’s now part of history? I have a photo of the base station I would love to post here but can’t copy the file into this comment box. Even it they could restore the poma to some level of functionality, It is apparent that they have blocked the poma line with the incomplete chairlift station, then promptly ran out of money. I hope they can find the funding to proceed.

Ya, they blocked the platter with the bottom terminal structure. It means they can’t operate until they are able to get the chairlift operational.

From the Johnsonville Historic Ski Bowl Facebook page….”Our goal is to keep improving the lodge and bathrooms and someday raise enough money to install a chair lift we purchased from Squaw.”

Are the lifts at Iron Mountain (Closed in the 90’s) still standing?

There are 2 SLI [I think] Doubles standing. One is in suprisingly good condition, the other is far gone. There is a mashup of 4 lifts in the lot, some never installed, some removed by NFS for safety.

I went by Iron Mountain in the fall of 2018 and the top stations of the lifts were burned to the ground (only the steel structure remains) as well as the ski lodge. The lift that was in good condition several years ago has the chairs removed (and not anywhere to be found) and the cable on the ground. The lifts in the lots are also gone. However, I does seem that any metal on the ground (old chairs and towers, etc.) may have been taken for scrap because the area seems too clean of materials for it to have been picked through and removed by scavengers. I wonder if this was done at the same time the USFS went through the area to clean underbrush in the forest in the mid 2010s?

Is their Riblet near the parking lot at Iron Mountain in good shape and standing?

Apparently it could snow 6-10 feet in California, Arizona, and Nevada over the next few days. Mountain High has already gotten 18 inches and the snow started recently. I wonder if we are going to get another Tahoe shutdown like a few years ago when it snowed 4 feet. Here is an article https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.washingtonpost.com/weather/2021/01/25/california-atmospheric-river-flooding-snow/%3foutputType=amp

Would you ever get the Oakland airport transporter, it is not strictly a cableway but it uses the same technology and parts from Dopplmayer chairlifts.

What about adding the ski lift at Pickle Meadow? It’s inside the Marine Corps base on Sonora Pass.

Is it still there? I have searched and searched on Google Earth to try and find it to no avail. Any more info on the exact location?

Interesting. It looks like the lift might be Buhler based on the tower and top terminal design. The bottom terminal might be in a building.

Iron Mountain. All the lifts on USFS land have been removed. Think the little SLI and parts of the Riblet on private may still be there??

Hmm had no idea they removed the rest of the lift remains. They were there last time I looked up there a year ago

The ones on USFS land were taken out years ago. There is a bit of private land when you drive in, old lodge etc.
