Very strange- it appears that in the first picture, there are two sheaves that are placed horizontally which if I had to guess are used to widen the line gauge?
After a second look, that seems right, as it reminds me of some older Doppelmayr t-bars in Europe. The question is why do this instead of a portal tower or a regular tube tower.

I’d say it originated at Doppelmayr. Just a hunch.

I mean, these towers are clearly not Doppelmayr, this lift must have come used.
