There is only one chairlift at the expert only Silverton Mountain. The lift came used from Mammoth and opened in 2001.Lower part of the lift line seen from the parking lot.A Yan double carrier with no safety bar.The last tower, number 15.Upper section of the line.View down.Tower 3.Riding up.Tower 12.Nearing the summit.Top bullwheel.View down from the summit.Near the top, the lift gets very high above the ground.View down the steepest part of the line.Another look west.Loading and maze area.Bottom station with drive and tensioning.Middle section of the lift.View back down.Breakover towers 11-13.The tallest tower on the line.Arriving at the summit.Unloading ramp.Upper part of the line.Upper terminal overview.Tower 13.The breakover.Looking uphill at T12.Middle lift line.Another look up the line.Tower 7.The first pitch.
Whatever lift this was, keep in mind as you’re speculating that chair spacing can be changed, haul ropes can be changed, tower spacing can be changed…. you get the idea. Also, the bottom terminal configuration is consistent with the early 70s lifts- think I-lift at Copper, Bashor at Steamboat, and so forth. I haven’t seen photos of Mammoth’s chair 15 but if it looked like my examples, I’d guess that’s the one.
The lift ride has some impressive views.

15 I believe. Someone on this site knows for sure.

It can’t be 15 because15 had non-bullwheel loading.

It was not chair 9 because this lift was put here in 2001 chair 9 was removed by cloud nine express in 2007

Could this have been Chair 27? That was a YAN double removed around 2001 I think.

Is there no top operator on this lift? I don’t see a shack.

This lift was not from Mammoth. It was from Purgatory ski area.

Do you have a source for that? It seems doubtful because Purgatory has never had any Yans.
