I’m pretty sure that the original lift here was a riblet single. The only chair removed before 1954 at sugar bowl was the original Mt Disney which was a riblet single, and if you look at the photos of the original lift here it is clearly a single, here are some photos of the original: https://oldgatlinburg.net/Gatlinburg_Parkway_Page_3.html

Why does the Gatlinburg area like ropeways so much? It seems like a good idea to me.

Where did the riblet come from? They stopped making that design in the 80’s.
