Did anybody else notice those Leitner-Poma sheaves on T3?

Looks like you were there to visit last week on a beautiful sunny day in what has been a pretty lackluster snow year for Northern Michigan.

The new Skytrac lift is about a 30 second ride-time faster than the Riblet quad it replaced.

Towers 4 & 5 were lifted into place via helicopter during construction, the others were installed via mobile crane.

Agreed that Peter took photos on what looks to be a very, very nice day at Nubs. I’m still disappointed that Nubs went SkyTrac while Caberfae is sporting two new Doppelmayr fixed grips, but going with SkyTrac makes sense with 1) Nubs’ history with Poma group lifts and 2) SkyTrac is something of the spiritual successor to cheap-but-cheerful Riblets. I’d rather have Nubs’ terrain with the SkyTrac, rather than the ‘nicer’ Doppelmayrs at what is just not my favorite place to ski down there in Cadillac.

Looking forward to riding it next winter. The padding looks nice, in line with the comfort of Nubs’ other lifts- the Riblets, the Superior Tramway, and that last remaining classic Poma. I’ll be the first to note here that this is Nubs’ first lift with safety bars. (With the new Doppelmayr installations at Boyne Mountain, the majority of the Mountain’s lifts now have safety bars and footrests.)
