The Hidden Valley lift has been shut down for the remainder of the 2019-2020 season, which isn’t too much longer for Hyak anyway. Apparently the lift has a problem that can’t be fixed until the snow melts and they can bring in heavier machinery. The Summit says next year it’ll be running β€œbetter than ever.” I remember when the lift first opened in 2011 it had a lot of problems. Might’ve been electrical. For a while they were only loading every other chair. Strange being as it’s essentially a new lift, albeit assembled from old Keechelus/Easy Gold parts.

It was making a banging noise every few seconds and giving off some i dunno what smell.. oil or fuel like. I was one of the last people on it that day. the ski patrol was telling everyone who got off that you should ski the front side instead unless you like to hike uphill. :/

Hidden Valley is reopening tomorrow. Repairable in winter after all.
