those tower tubes look reused… the way i can tell is by the latter cause most dopplymayers look like a regular ladder those look like there early lift ladders like many riblets

Would make a lot of sense as the prior lift was a riblet.

This is what the riblet looked like on its last day of operations ever.

If you are talking about Towers 1 & 2, those look like reused Yan towers- L.E. used those stirrups for many years. And we know that Squaw had quite a stock of old Yan equipment.👍

I am pretty sure the first kt was a Heron replaced by a Riblet which was replaced by a Yan which was replaced by this. From what I heard the white wolf lift, which is pretty much abandoned, was the former kt double and it is a Yan.

You are correct the first KT-22 Double was a Heron

When the lift was replaced it was slightly realigned.

What happened to the abandoned Wolf lift? Where is it?

The towers and the stations are there but Troy Caldwell who owns the White Wolf lift couldn’t put the cable and chairs on because an alpine meadows HOA sued him because they think the lift would cause avalanche danger potentially hitting the homes there.

Is the lift going to be completed as part of Squaw-Alpine?

He is trying to make his own private 275 acre resort with 30 or so luxury homes. When his resort opens the alpine meadows mid station on the gondola will be used for skiers going to the white wolf resort. I don’t know how that will work.

So Alterra wants to brand Squaw-Alpine as one resort when the whole connection area to get there isn’t even owned by them? Quicksilver at least has runs going on either side. Whistler and Blackcomb have some overlap at the base. Definitely not worth 60 million. Park City spent 50 million for one gondola with an angle station, one new six pack with a loading carpet, and a relocation of a detachable quad.

I know most customers don’t care about this but this liftline was iconic for decades.. It’s sad to see it like this:

The gondola is going to have a lot of wind exposure on the KT22 crossing.

up at the top by the patrol shack, the mid station and tower after is REALLY low, I think they will have to regrade the top of saddle

Looks like they kept towers off of the fingers though. That’s a huge win for the skiing quality and history.

I agree. I would have much preferred alignment 2 from an aesthetic and practical point of view, but environmentalists shot it down.

when i rode up it this season, I was still too in awe of the fingers (as usual) to care about the new towers

Does anyone know the story of the old kt22 rollback? Was it the Yan, Riblet, or Heron? Were there multiple occasions it happened?

I rode a lift at (now) Palisades Tahoe perhaps 15-20 yrs ago. It had crazy-tall towers and NO safety bar. I sweat bullets on every ride, but the terrain was SO worth it. I thought it was KT-22, but I’m not sure. Can anyone confirm/deny?

I highly doubt it was KT-22. The Red Dog chair which was replaced recently went really high up but always had safety bars. Could have also been Olympic lady but I am not sure when they added bars to all their lifts.

It wasn’t Red Dog because I’m 100% certain it had no safety bar. If it had a safety bar, the height wouldn’t have bothered me.

Crazy dimensions too- 150 long, 450 wide, 10 feet deep. Humbling reminder that nature’s in control and there’s only so much mitigation can do.
