This is the main lift out of Nakiska’s base area and it opened along with the ski area in 1985.This CLD-260 terminal is the return.Side view of the bottom station.Return bullwheel and chain turnaround.Riding up the first section.Middle part of the line.View back down the line.Nearing the summit.Arriving at the drive.Turnaround up top.Motor room.Top station overview.View down line from near the summit.Middle section of the line.View down at tower 3.Bottom station with parking/maintenance rail.
Does anyone know if there are any plans to replace this lift? It is the single most important lift in the resort.
While it is reliable (I have never seen it out of operations yet) it is almost 40 years old by now, and many times the lines can be too long.

I believe the Banff Gondola is the oldest operating detachable in North America dating back to 1959. If you count surface lifts, I’m pretty sure Hickory Hill has a relocated T50 detachable Poma that’s older.
How did none of the other CLD-260s from this era end up with windows?

They may have been added in-house. None of the original Poma Performant terminals had windows either but I added some so it wasn’t so dark inside.

Is this the oldest running detachable in North America?

Silver at Nakiska and Mont Sutton’s high speed quad (Quebec) are the only 1985 detachable left in operation.

Good point, guess this makes a case for the oldest running detachable chairlift then.
