This lift was constructed in 1987 to service the ski jumping facility from the 1980 Olympics. The lift is often open to the public as part of ski jump tours. There are only three towers. The top terminal with tensioning.View down from the summit.
Me and my dad’s first ever Poma double chair. Definitely the steepest double I’ve ever been on. Extremely slow and it should be for those who got no skis on. Great views of the ski jumps. Why did it get replaced?
I would assume it was replaced for a capacity increase and weather purposes. The pulse gondola currently there usually has some long lines. Also, Lake Placid gets freezing, not uncommon for temperatures to be subzero. It’s nice to be enclosed on a chilly day.
