Why do Skytrac sheaves look just like their CTEC equivalent?

That’s because they are basically the same sheaves as Garaventa / CTEC.
You can buy CTEC parts from Skytrac.

Does the sky ride stay intact after the fair is over? Is it opened during other events at the Fairgrounds? At least the pillars look like they would be permanently installed.

The towers and terminal remain in place the chairs travel to the other skyride at Cal Expo, the lift could be operated for other events it would be up to the operator to have it set up for them.

The chairs no longer move to cal expo, and usually operates 1-3 more events during the year.
