I think Snowshoe should add a small connector lift between the tops of Western Express and Powder Monkey to eliminate the walk across the road. A small fixed-grip would be all that is needed, although a cabriolet would be nice.
It’s a really short distance across the street, I’m not sure how the load/unload would work. Maybe some form of “Magic Carpet Overpass” by making the road dip down and turning the road into an underpass with an uphill magic carpet on each side of the road with the peak being over the roadway.
I’ve been trying to figure out where hawthorn went also. The first Powderridge lift was from the mid station of Powdermonkey (bottom of Choker ski run.) So it wasn’t a full ride. It was before my time. But Powdermonkey still had the mid station for years when I started skiing there in the mid 90’s. I also know from some research that the original Ball Hooter and Skidder chairs got upgraded to CTEC chairs at some point. Before the Ball Hooter high speed quad the original lift was 4-pack fixed and was relocated to the Cubb Run chair at Silver Creek (but it, and Skidder look to be 3 packs originally.) Also the mid station of the Cup Run high speed was installed when that chair was put in. As far as I know it’s never been used but it wasn’t added in ‘08 it was there from the original replacement date (a decision many questioned.)
many places around the net also say it was powderidge but this is usually because they are citing liftblog which is mistaken. hawthorne is listed here as being removed in 1989 but if you look at trail maps from 1987 and 1988 hawthorne is not on them, nor is the current longer iteration of powderidge but Grabhammer is. Powderidge was just extended to the bottom in 1990, not replaced by Hawthorne. Hawthorne was converted into Grabhammer in 1986.
Ok, I was wrong. Grabhammer lift was once Hawthorne lift, but not all of Hawthorne went to Grabhammer, the rest went to Powderidge lift. I know this because Hawthorne lift was 6,161 feet long and Grabhammer lift is 3,025 feet long, so the extra 3,000 feet went to Powderidge lift.
Hawthorne lift closed in 1989, and Grabhammer opened in 1986 and Powderidge lift opened in 1989, so Grabhammer lift was open when Hawthorne lift was open, so it has to be Powderidge lift.
Widowmaker was relocated to become the Mohawk triple at Mohawk Mountain in Connecticut.

Eh, I Feel like that’s not even necessary. Yeah, it’s a pain to cross the road, but it’s be too much effort to redo the whole road for it

The Hawthorn lift went to the building of today’s Powderidge lift.
I think Ballhooter lift was originally a fixed grip triple but was changed to a quad at one point.
I think they use the mid station at Western express in the summer
