This is an up-and-over bi-directional lift. The towerheads switch direction in the middle, with the front catwalks facing downhill and ladders facing uphill on both sides.
It seems to run below design speed. My guess is that since it’s a one-and-done transfer lift, and loads & unloads on each side so there’s a) more for lifties to watch out for and b) twice the chance of a misload or fall-on-exit, Park City folks figured it actually overall saves guests time to run extra-slow with few/no stops.
I don’t know about you, but I feel this should be replaced with a high-speed quad with higher chair spacing (more than 6 seconds) not only does Timberline run way below it’s designed speed, but slows down and stops 2x more than other lifts (which is very annoying!) Timberline also is the only convenient way to get to Quicksilver and to points north of it and Iron Mtn. A detachable can be more efficient in moving everyone in between Iron Mtn and Tombstone. It takes around 8-9 minutes to ride it one way. Also, chair count of Timberline is 76 total.

Seeing as this lift was built in 2008, and Iron Mountain was built in 2010, was this just a lift to nowhere for 2 years?

I would assume most of the riders for those two years were coming back from Deamcatcher/Dreamscape area.
