Leitner drive terminal similar to Poma’s Alpha.Fixed top bullwheel.Lift line from the summit.View of the base from Timber Bowl Express.Black windows painted over in white.Breakover support towers.Riding up the upper half of the line.Last tower before the top.The Yan operator houses came from Lake Louise, which was a sister resort at the time White Pass was built.Line near the top.Lower section.Towers 1-3.Side view of the drive.
On the Leitner terminals the room where the drive is curved forwards where on the Poma terminals the drive room is curved inwards. Also the terminal masts on the Leitner are wider and has a bigger piece to move the drive room where the Poma terminals masts are narrower and have a smaller piece to move the drive room.
While those are things that are true, there is more than a soupçon of similarity, yes? Not quite de minimis, but one can easily draw more æsthetic parallels than contradictions.
Leitner/BM chairs. These chairs were originally designed by BM Lifts and modified after they were purchased by Leitner is 1997. We have the sister chair to this one at Mansfield Ski Club in Ontario.
Why is the bottom station so loud? The operators wear ear protection all the time. I have not heard any chair as loud as this one. It almost seems like it runs constantly on diesel but there is not exhaust smell.
This lift, along with Timber, Great Bear (?) and possibly one other, uses a special device (I forgot the name) that regulates the flow of electricity when starting the lift. If they did not have them, the resort might take all the power from the valley when starting up all the lifts in the morning. That does not explain the noise, but it is pretty cool. They are in sheds beside the drive station.
Why is that terminal like that? I feel like Poma would have some issues with patent infringement.

Phht. Totally different. No resemblance at all. Sheesh. I mean, one is totally red and stuff.

Are those Poma Arceaux chairs or knock-off Leitner chairs?

The Yan operator house has been removed in place of a new operator house.

The chair design on this almost looks like a cross between the Poma Arceaux chair and the current LPA quad chair design.

All the depression sheaves on towers 13 and 14 are too much, some of them aren’t necessary, it just adds maintenance, I wonder why Leitner did this ?

If they’re there, they’re necessary. That’s a large change in profile, and the fewer sheaves you have there, the faster they wear out.

You are correct about that, it is just a crazy amount of sheaves to maintain every summer 😉
