They’re redecorating? Someone took a page from my old boss’s book, in which he said something to the effect of ‘black is beautiful’ regarding lift colours? Black is easier to find at the paint store?
It’s probably as simple as management wanted a change. Our I-lift was black originally. It faded to grey in the 11,700′ intense UV, so we repainted it grey (although the underside didn’t fade so we kept it black). Years later we painted it green and grey to match our other Doppelmayrs as well as all our fixed-grips. There was no real rhyme nor reason for the timing of the changes.

Those are actually light towers for night riding! I can see how they could be mistaken for old towers though haha.

they were originally tower tubes though for a riblet (look at the cross arm). It is a standard late 70s riblet cross arm
