Skimap.org lists that there was a platter lift, probably made by Poma considering that Snowbowl’s earliest trail map from 1961 lists the Agassiz double as a Riblet.
Fun fun fact: geologists didn’t actually know this was for sure a catastrophic volcanic eruption that blew it’s top/side out until 1980 when they witnessed mt.st.helens blow it’s top.
They then realized the San Francisco peaks where a much bigger version.
Also, the Sunset Crater is the current location of the hotspot, and in a few million years there will be a new “San Francisco peak” to the east. To the west, you can see the series of cinder cones and eroded parts of larger mountains like Bill Williams mtn, Sitgreaves and Kendrick peak. All were once part of their own San Franciscos as the NA plate moved across the hotspot eastward.

A neat fact I learned about snow bowl today is that the mountain it sits on, Agassiz Peak, once one part of a much larger 16,000 foot tall volcano

The Tunnel Fire is currently 7 1/2 miles away from snow bowl as the crow flies, is there a chance that the tunnel fire could reach snowbowl?

The Tunnel Fire is East of Snowbowl. With predominant winds from the West and Southwest, it’s fairly unlikely the fire would endanger the Ski Area.
