Where did the old Summit triple go? It was the original Sun Corner triple from Magic Mountain VT.

When the T-Bar Express gets old, they should take out all 3 parallel lifts and replace them with a six pack.

They are planning to take out the triple to use for expansion terrain elsewhere. So there will just be two summit lifts, and presumably the Summit quad would presumably just be for redundancy.

Anyone know what’s gonna happen with the Mountain Top triple, now that it’s been removed?

It will be relocated on a new expansion.

Ah. It wasn’t listed in the new lifts section for 2024 or 2025

Yes, you are right. I guess it will be another time, because it was listed before.

As of early October, it hasn’t been fully removed. Chairs and haul rope are gone, but the towers are still standing.

Note the relocated SLI double from Mackinaw Island. Yes believe it or not the island had an operating ski resort for just a couple of seasons.

The last 15 years here is a textbook example of why I think resorts should be careful when replacing lifts with something that’s marginally better.

State of affairs in 2008: Two base to summit lifts: a late 70s Hall Double, and Summit, a late 80s poma triple

2009: Installed a used 1980s poma mountaintop triple to replace the Hall Double

2014: Installed a new Skytrac summit quad to replace the summit poma triple

2023: Installed a new High Speed Quad to supplement the summit quad and mountaintop triple

2024: Brought the crews back in one last time to remove the mountaintop triple

They probably should’ve skipped either 09 or 14. Millions wasted because of poor planning.

When they installed the Skytrac quad, that was to boost capacity. The Moutaintop triple continued to run on busier days as a helper lift. The real change came in 2018 or 19 when they joined the Indy Pass – which greatly increased the skier visits. This brought the need for the HSQ – and at the time they said that they would reuse the triple for a future expansion on the backside.
