This is the former Pioneer double, which was displaced by the Tahoe Zephyr in 2006.

You can tell it’s an old lift. It has portal towers.

Yeah, this lift was built sometime between 1966 and the 1980s.

If it was before 1966, the crossbar would be across the top rather than bolted around the tower like it is here.

If it was in the 80s, the lift would be using 8-sheave assemblies and have fewer towers, especially on the break overs.

The chairs are not original, at Northstar the chairs were center-pole ones. I wonder where the bail chairs on this lift came from though.

Center pole chairs were initially installed during Eaglecrest relocation. They were subsequently replaced with bail chairs to match other lifts on mountain. The bail chairs were purchased from Mt Sima in Whitehorse, Yukon. Original single pole chairs were donated to Eaglecrest Foundation and sold to individuals as part of a fundraising effort. Think the Mt Sima lift with single pole chairs was from Mt Alyeska but not certain.

At least we still have Superior Tramway. We need more little lift companies!

Yeah but the question is how long will small companies like Superior Tramway be around?

That is certainly a hard question. Only time will tell.

Rust in peace. removed from service (still standing) They have deemed it too expensive to repair, apparently.
