This is the only lift to service the summit of Homestead’s ski area.View from the top terminal.Drive station.Lower lift line.View up the steep part of the line.Bottom terminal.Loading area and counterweight.Lift line.Side view of the bottom station.
Refresh my memory – does The Homestead run Lift C every day that they are open? It does not look like it is being used here. Given that it is the only lift access to Wild Grape, etc from the summit…
Lift C is usually the last lift they open. Lift A is first. Lift B second and C third. They have a limited snow making capacity and if it isn’t cold enough early in the winter lift C might not open until February. They only make snow on 1 to 2 runs at a time.
This is a nice little place. Lacking vertical but great views and a relaxing place with little in the way of crowds. A great place for your kids to learn to ski.
The skiing here is starting to seem like an after thought. This is primarily a summer resort that has skiing for its residents and guests mostly. A lot of the snow making system and lifts are rundown. Lift B was having issues all last winter and was down several times. I briefly spoke with a lift mechanic that was there and he said the lift was having electrical issues and the safety system kept stopping the lift. Seemed to be an issue most of the winter. Lots of the lights for night skiing need new bulbs and there are snow makers that are missing pieces in places.
