California Cruiser – Boreal, CA

This Doppelmayr Alpen Star beginner lift opened in 2018 adjacent to a slightly older Doppelmayr quad chair.
There are only four towers but they have the thick-style lifting frames due to dense chair spacing.
The towers also have lights on them.
Simple return terminal.
Another view of the top bullwheel.
View down the short lift line.
Tower 2.
Another view down the line.
The drive-tension combo terminal down below.
Side view of the bottom terminal.
Lift overview.
Another look at the whole lift.
Motor room with floor to ceiling windows.
The lift line with 52 total chairs.

2400/hr and 300 feet per minute top speed, so 30 foot chair spacing. Since it’s a beginner lift I’m guessing they run it even slower.

in pictures 12 and 14 you can see this black structure thing on the left. Is it an old lift that boreal removed back in 2008 when they added the castle peak quad?

why did boreal remove three lifts in 2008 all over 1 summer?

This original lift was named #2, then renamed Goldrush back sometime in the late 80s to early 90s. Boreal shorted the lift in the mid 2000s . (You can see old ski maps on skimaps.org) The reason why they shorted the lift, from what I remember, is some novice skiers/riders would accidentally travel on the Cedar Ridge side (most difficult) and get stuck. So, then the ski patrol person would have to rescue them. The original motor room is still present. You can see it on the Boreal cam, where Lower cut and Sierra meet.
