… And another photo of the olympic chair. You can really see that when they moved all the earth to build the ’89 Express, they took out a lot of the unique character of the hill. Now, COP has no trees, just a big hill. But it did extend the vertical.

Is this where Cool Runnings was filmed?

Here’s a good photo showing the Paskapoo triple (went to Mission Ridge, SK), the old Eastside Doppelmayr quad (replaced the Hall built Olympic triple at Blacktail, MT), and the Hall Olympic double (had CTEC chairs).

Nice to see all three lifts. The lodge looks different in red.

I found more photos of the former lifts at Paskapoo (now Winsport).

The 1973 Hall double was the first chairlift at Paskapoo, and ran around where the Legacy Express ran. It was replaced by the Mueller-built Paskapoo triple. (You can also see the former alpine slide in the photo).

When the Paskapoo triple replaced this double, Mueller relocated the Hall double to become the Olympic chair. Mueller added 1 or 2 towers to the lift and replaced the drive, but retained most towers, chairs, and the top terminal.

The Hall chairs were eventually replaced with CTEC models. From family members who skied here in the 90’s, the lift was never open to the general public.

The original Eastside triple was constructed by Hall, and was moved to Blacktail, MT. In earlier years, a Hall-built t-bar ran alongside the triple. This T-Bar was later moved closer to the Paskapoo triple. You can faintly see the t-bar lower terminal in this photo (to the left):

There actually was a Doppelmayr surface lift that followed the Hall T-Bar lift.

And while I’m at it, here are a few more vintage lift pictures

This aerial photo was taken very shortly after both surface lifts were removed (you can see concrete pouring for the new lodge foundations). But all three chairlifts are in place, and the ski jump looks recently constructed.
