The chondola supplements the three stage gondola system and is free to riders without skis.Gondola loading entrance and maintenance/parking rail.Top station unloading ramp.Upper terminal from below.View down the lift line.Upper lift line view.Another view of the line.Inside the bottom station.Loading area for skiers.Riding up the line.New CWA Omega IV for ADA purposes.Nearing the top.Compression tower 10.Drive station.
To go along with ADA, you will often see Cabins discribed as “LWI” which stands for “Level Walk In”. This means that the floor of the load platform and the floor of the Cabin are at the same level going through the terminals.👍
Garaventa AK grips. Standard issue on Garaventa and Garaventa/CTEC lifts from the late 80s to the late 90s until they introduced the coil spring grips seen on the Lionshead gondola and the sixpacks at Stratton.
It’s a beginners / ski school lift in winter and serves attractions for children in the summer. Having beginner lifts replaced with gondolas is pretty common in Austria, because it’s easier for a ski instructor to be with a whole bunch of children in a gondola, while loading chairs usually needs external help.
Not a fan of these kinds of lifts myself, but fortunately they usually serve terrain I don’t particularly care about :)
Yes, Grouse Mountain and Strawberry Park at Beaver Creek, Bear mountain express at Bear Mountain CA, Great Western at Brighton to name a few, all were built before this lift and have similar terminal design.
What does ADA mean?

Does anyone know the grips used on this lift? I thought it was the DS grips but it doesn’t really look like those.

They look like Garaventa grips. Same as other mid-90s Garaventa/CTEC detaches.

This lift is fairly short for gondola or chondola.

You’d hate this one :) https://www.seilbahntechnik.net/en/lifts/18279/datas.htm And unlike the Telluride chondola it isn’t even meant to cater to foot traffic.

Ah. I thought Haymeadow at BC was overkill, but that lift tops it.

Is this the first chondola in North America?

Why wouldn’t they just make all of the cabins CWA? They would definitely have enough money to do it.

Cool that they put a gondola cabin at the top of the carpet lift.

this station looks pretty similar to wildwood express at vail, but without the windows. Were any c-tec detachable models built before this besides eagle express at Solitude?https://liftblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/vail-4-1-07-180.jpghttps://liftblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/vail-4-1-07-0211.jpg
