This would count as one of only two lifts in the US to cross active railroad lines. The other would be Sugar Bowl’s gondola which crosses over the Union Pacific’s Donner Pass tracks.
As a train enthusiast aka foamer as well as a lift enthusiast/ operator I was quite happy to be riding out of j gore on this one day when a train was passing underneath. This lift is the best beginner lift at okemo IMHO for the simple fact of it being a detach as opposed to the base quads. Fixed grip quads can be complicated.
There was originally supposed to be a second lift out of Jackson Gore’s base alongside Coleman Brook. At first, it was supposed to go from the base up to the intersection of Sidewinder and Moonshadow. However, as Solitude Village continued to develop, it was instead planned as a huge gondola going up to the Summit Lodge, crossing Solitude Express around Mountain Road and Green Ridge right below its top station. Even though this was eventually cancelled, likely due to cost, you can still approximate its liftline on Google Maps because no buildings were constructed in the lift’s intended path through Solitude Village.
The main gondola absolutely goes over a residential road, in fact it goes over the same road twice. Christie Peak does not go over any roads, but it does go over a private driveway.

Christie peak express and the gondola at steamboat both go over residential roads

The Wild horse gondola does but the main gondola and Christie peak don’t. After this summer the main gondola won’t go over a pedestrian walkway.
