SLI’s *inventory* was purchased by Riblet. They did not buy the company. They built a few lifts with the remaining parts they had bought, and put their own on when necessary.
Holy smokes the tower in the second picture must be leaned at an angle of like 30 degrees, maybe more! I can’t think of a much bigger leaner than that…
I think it is the original tower that was there, and they just lifted it up and installed the gondola under it. (I’d have to assume with a new tower foundation) Definitely an original SLI tower, although they removed Chair 1 the year prior, so they would’ve had extra SLI towers on hand if needed.
In the master development plan they mentioned that it could be replaced with a HSQ in a different alignment (ending at the junction of Lookout and See Forever). If not, it will be replaced by a triple in the same alignment. I’m hoping for the for the former.
I just love how it looks like they just dropped an SLI tower on the gondola tower at the crossing.

SLI went bankrupt and was purchased by Riblet in 1973, so that would make sense.

It appears that is has Riblet clips too, as well as some Riblet sheaves.

It must have been a very recent change. I skied there yesterday and there are still Coonskin references on signs, as well as my most recent trail map.

I believe they decided to change the name this winter and then are going to actually update everything over the summer.

The name of the trail was originally Stumper

We had one on old chair 6 at Baker that was 45. It was more like walking up a staircase than climbing a ladder.

I wonder if tower 10 was always tall or it was actually shorter in height before the gondola was built.

This lift looks terrifying to ride! Must be 80 ft off the ground!

Are they planning on replacing it with a HSQ?

They would carve out a cat track from the junction to the top of village express.
