The original resort called Crotched is the eastern one and opened in 1963. A new resort called Onset mountain opened nearby in 1969 and was later renamed Bobcat. The two were combined in 1980 with Crotched being called Crotched East, and Onset/Bobcat being called Crotched West. It all closed in 1992. In 2003, Peak Resorts reopened the Onset/Bobcat/Crotched West area which is what is open and called Crotched Mountain today. There are no current plans to reopen Crotched East.
