I can’t wait for the day they make this a high speed detachable. Same with Peak 5. It gets so backed up at the bottom of both lifts during peak hours. It would greatly improve flow through that area.

With 17 towers, it must be around 3300ft or so in length? Doesn’t say yet on the specs page.

Elsewhere, I have seen this lift listed as 3280 ft in length with a capacity of 2000.

This was originally built as the Saddleback quad in a slightly different alignment when this was still Wolf Mountain in 1996. Then it was relocated to become Raptor when American Skiing Company opened as The Canyons in 1997. When ASC ran out of money trying to build out their expansion, they relocated it again to be Dreamscape, which was originally on the master plan as a high speed quad. When Raptor was in place, Golden Eagle (a 1968 Riblet double running roughly parallel) didn’t run. When Dreamscape was built, the only other way up the mountain besides the Red Pine gondola was Golden Eagle, which now was back in service for 10 more years until the Orange Bubble chair was built. The tension tower from the old Raptor bottom terminal was left there for years after the relocation (as was the old tension terminal for Golden Eagle, which remained until the golf course was built in 2015. Raptor ended right next (feet away) from the vault drive of Golden Eagle on a narrow ridgeline where the Orange Bubble midstation is now.

I feel like this lift has to go detachable soon enough, but there’s a lot of other things needed done too

-Replace Pioneer with a detachable quad

-Move the old Pioneer lift to run from the bottom of Silverlode to the top of Crescent Express, calling it the “Claimjumper Lift”

-Replace Silver Star with a detachable, dropping you off in front of Vista, where the old Eagle Lift let off

-Move Silver Star to Red Pine lodge, transporting you to the top of Tombstone. This would greatly reduce traffic in the tombstone area

-Replace Dreamcatcher with a detachable, but make it so the base of it is after the merger with Whitewater. That way, people can continue to ski down Harmony for a longer run, and, most importantly, people who ski down Sleeper are able to get back to the top without riding 2 lifts

-Move Dreamcatcher to the base, going from the base of Canyons to the base of Super Condor. This gives people an option to move straight to Super Condor, and hopefully reduce early morning lines on OBX and Red Pine

-Extend Sun Peak to the bottom of Flume, where Super Condor boards

-Move High Meadow Express to replace Sunrise, going all the way up to Over And Out, making that lift go both ways

-Add a new High Meadow Express lift, with a mid station where it lets off now, but have it extend up to where Sun Peak let’s off

-Add a lift from the base of Tombstone to the top of Peak 5, making Peak 5 terrain much easier to access

-Replace Day Break with a detachable quad, with a mid station where the current Day Break let’s off. Then, have it continue up the Mountain to allow creation of more expert terrain up there

Move Day Break to where Pioneer/at THaynes let’s off, going up to the top of Jupiter Peak

    How’s that?

I think a new Silver Star should go to the top of King Kong, with a midstation at Vista. The lifts from Red Pine Lodge to Tombstone and Silverlode to Crescent should be detatchable in order to effectively siphon people away from the lifts they are supplementing. I honestly think there’s an advantage of the current High Meadow pod being isolated (with the Mainline bypass), and it might be easier for beginners to not have to worry about a midstation. Saddleback has enough capacity at the end of the day anyways. I think there should be a Jupiter Peak lift, but it should go from the bottom of McConkey’s and Pioneer so it is easier to access. I agree that Sun Peak should be extended to the bottom of Flume, but it definitely should have a mid load where the current bottom terminal is. I don’t think the Dreamcatcher and Tombstone-Peak 5 lift ideas would work because of property lines sadly. You have some great ideas!

If this lift were to be replaced, could it be relocated to the Claimjumper infill lift or Thaynes replacement?
