It should be noted that this lift no longer runs at its designed speed of 5.6 m/s, but rather around 450 fpm. From one of the fastest detachables in North America to the slowest.

      Why only 450 fpm, Cameron?

Wish I knew. It could be a cost savings measure as its been running this speed so far for the season from what I’ve heard from locals. Willamette Pass was pretty quiet yesterday. Skier count looked to be about 150 people.

Well they wanted to trade it for a fixed grip so what do you expect?

So is this lift permanently closed or is this resort planning to upgrade this lift or something?

No, it’s the only lift that allows access to Peak 2.

Is there any Doppelmayr in this lift? Looks like all pre-merger Garaventa CTEC. Curiosity alone, even though it sounds judgy.

Nope. 100% Garaventa CTEC Stealth III. Only Doppelmayr CTEC are the name plates.

Would these chairs work on Six Shooter at Big Sky? I know they were looking for some a while back. 3000 pph seems like way overkill for a resort like this. Seems like they could sell off a few!

They would, although several carriers have been taken off the lift and now there is a huge gap between carrier 62 and carrier 1. The 3000 pph was also set this way when the lift was operating at 1200 fpm. Now I believe it operates at 900 fpm, so the hourly capacity has dropped.

Are they still trying to sell this thing?

I hope it isn’t going to scrap yet.

This lift still operates – no one is scrapping it.

Didn’t they say they would not use it anymore because of cost?

Mountain Capital Partners assumed operation of Willamette Pass in October of 2022. Since then, they reactivated the dormant Midway chairlift, and recently updated their USFS master plan. Eagle Peak Accelerator is not going anywhere under MCP management.

watershredder- as Cameron mentioned five-ish years ago, this lift is the only access to its pod and other lifts. It won’t be going anywhere unless there’s a direct replacement in the works.
