As of 2016-17, Eaglet wasn’t operating at all for the entire season.

Just checked and it is still on the trail map. I believe Eaglet’s original purpose was to serve the Olympic GS start. After 2002, it sat idle for awhile before being turned into a dedicated terrain park lift by Powdr. Salt Lake is bidding on the 2026 Games so it might be smart to keep Eaglet around.

What I don’t understand is why Talisker didn’t just extend the lift to the top of King Con to actually make this a very useful lift after the Olympics by allowing eagle riders to directly access King Con and Miners Camp/Silverlode. Sure, the Gondola didn’t yet run there, but that still would have been a huge improvement over running to a random point halfway up the ridge that Talisker new wouldn’t be very usefull.

Did Vail add safety bars to it? If not then they have no intention of ever running it again.

Wouldn’t surprise me if they pull it then. No one continues to maintain lifts that don’t are seldom or never run anymore. It could be used as a beginner lift elsewhere at PC or at another mountain.

They say they run the lift on weekends. I dont know for sure because I mainly skied the canyons side. Every lift but sunrise and High meadow. The only base lift I skied was Payday. I did ski the upper mountain of the Park City side though.

Eaglet didn’t operate for the 2017/18 season as well. I still don’t know why Eaglet didn’t operate. It was in operation the first season of Park City’s largest resort (2015/16) and I have ridden it. Vail Resorts added safety bars to the lift during the Park City/Canyons merger. One possible factor is that the terrain park it serviced (current name Pix Axe) can also be accessed via King Con/Crescent.

Eaglet didn’t operate any of the days I skied at PCMR this year. Eaglet wasn’t on the lift status boards, not was it including in the lift count (all openings were counted out of 41, instead of 42). Eaglet was however listed in the lift status section of the website as “closed”, like any other lift that’s closed for the day or what not.

The reason Eaglet hasn’t been operating lately is because it is broken. It is used for lift evacuation training. It has only operated once 2018-19 according to Park City Lift Status. The plan is that Eaglet is not gonna get removed from the trail map and may be fixed.

My hardcopy trailmap from 18-19 has Eaglet listed as Friday-Sunday (weekends) only. That didn’t happen this year, obviously. Once they repair it, that may be their future operating strategy. It certainly has ran under Vail ownership, I remember riding it circa 2016.

Eaglet is not scheduled to operate this year, which will be its last year standing as it is scheduled to be removed when Eagle is upgraded to a detachable in a new alignment.

Makes sense if the plan is to extend Eagle up to the top of King Con to make a one-seat ride from the lower parking lots to Miner’s Camp, and thus a two seat ride to everything on the Park City side (save for Jupiter) in tandem with the upgraded Silverlode.

As of January 2022, Eaglet is still standing but de-tensioned and buried in snow. Given Vail’s nationwide shortage of lifties, Eagle isn’t operating either this year. Vail has a big sign up next to Eagle and Silverlode trumpeting their replacements.
