Always was curious…. Why the heck is that station drive and control hut so high? Did they need so much natural snow to open the lift or did they use snowmaking?
It was used temporarily when the Tram was being rebuilt so people could access the top. It still exists but as the marmot chair on a different part of the mountain.
It ran in this alignment for the duration of the tram reconstruction. It was removed from the map in 2010, after the tram reopened, but I think it stayed there an extra season just in case. It was moved in 2011 to its current alignment as Marmot, which is at least double the length it was as East Ridge.
I have to disagree. Making it difficult to lap is the only thing that keeps Rendezvous Bowl (and Corbet’s, for that matter) from getting insanely skied off imo.
Certainly it would be beneficial insofar as providing an alternate route up to the very top for those who don’t want to wait in line for the tram. (This would require a minimum of three lifts to reach: Bridger, Thunder, and Sublette. Or every high speed quad save for Casper if you’d rather not use a gondola.)

No snowmaking above Amphitheater. The bowl gets a ton of snow, all natural.

Being a temporary lift may have also been a contributing factor.

How come it was removed?

As Marmot, it provides an alternate route to the restaurant at the top of the Bridger Gondola when that goes down.

A very, very rare occurrence.

It does ensure that there’s a chairlift option to reach trails like Gros Ventre and Cascade.

When did this stop operating? Did they only use it wile the tram was down, or did they continue to use it until relocation?

Were the extra chairs new when marmot was installed, because I thought Doppelmayr stopped making those chairs around 2008-2009 ish?

As far as I know Doppelmayr will still build you CTEC carriers if that’s what you want on your fixed-grip.

Built by Doppelmayr with CTEC terminals, grips and carriers; towerheads and line equipment are Doppelmayr. No Garaventa on this lift.

I kinda wish they kept this, or even added a fixed grip quad in its place because it would be easier to lap Rendevous Bowl.
