It’s kind of annoying they don’t run this lift during the week unless it’s the early season, or weather is closing Vista Express. The terrain parks are a load of fun to lap and I see a lot of people use them, but weekday riders are oftentimes forced to take Vista Express to get to the Easy Rider terrain.
And usually if Easy Rider is shut down to save money, Daisy is too.
This is actually a pretty big problem for beginner riders. Without Easy Rider running, the next step from Buttercup is Vista, and while Vista is pretty mellow there are parts of it that are too difficult for many beginners.
Anecdotally, I took a couple friends to Meadows a few years back to teach them to ski and our first trip down Vista took about 30 minutes. They loved the bottom portion that Easy Rider services but didn’t want to repeat the run because the top portion was too much for them. Really wish Meadows would think about this given how much effort they’ve been putting into ‘improving’ their beginning skier/rider experience.
Agreed wholeheartedly. And even when Vista is open, the easier, more meandering runs that get closer to the edge of the canyon separating Mt. Hood Meadows from Timberline can be very iced up due to the wind. They’re fun! But the ice can be brutal.
Easy Rider hasn’t run since about Christmas due to maintenance issues. The mountain hasn’t said anything about it or when it might be resolved. Does anyone know what happened?
I noticed this and was curious as well. I looked through their Facebook page and someone asked this question in a comment in one of their recent posts. Meadows replied, saying they were waiting on delivery of a part. It is due to arrive any day now (possibly delayed due to recent stormy weather) and the lift should be operational again within a few days.
Did the chairs come from Breck? They look similar to theirs

Those Riblet chairs have appeared on a few other lifts as well. Like they were retrofitted onto two of Keystone’s doubles.

4 and 5 at Bogus have those carriers as well, sans safety bar.
