This part of the mountain is really underutilized. It just is not worth it on most blistering cold days to trek out all the way here for the only primary lift that isn’t detachable and have few lapable runs. I have always thought they should add a couple more runs from the top and replace the lift with a detachable quad to get people over here.

Believe it or not I’ve actually seen this lift get 15+ minute wait times. However, it only happens when everything else is also 15+ on the sign at the top. Because it’s so underutilized, I don’t think it’s really a priority to upgrade, and it does have some nice glades without the skier traffic of an area served by detachable lifts.

Detachable quads have the same theoretical capacity as fixed grip quads. The actual capacity would be only a little higher

Yep but the Edge is slow, so its capacity decreases because the time between chairs is rising.

Actually I would prefer Tremblant to keep Edge old, slow and underdevelopped and to put money on Duncan/Soleil.

Is it me, or does it look like this lift was designed to be converted to a detachable quad.

      It looks wide enough.

Although this lift is wider than your average Doppelmayr fixed-grip quad, it was never designed to be converted. Edge is in fact a second-hand lift, being the original TGV lift (which was, as we know, replaced with a new 1993 POMA detach quad). If this lift is replaced, which I believe is neither necessary nor likely, it’ll probably be with the current TGV detachable, or a brand new detachable quad.

Why is the edge lift wider than most doppelmayr fixed grip quads?

A high speed quad would certainly get more people over here, perhaps if tied with a trail expansion. That would take some crowds off Le Grand Manitou as there is a trail to bypass the summit.

I totally agree. I was here on a cold day in January 2020, and the ride up this lift was so slow and painful!

Have not been on a chairlift like this before. Definitely another great lift to beat the crowds and accesses the best glades I’ve ever skied on.

Yes, it is very a cool lift ! I hope they will keep it like this for a long time. Unfortunatly there are often crowds on busy weekends….

Yes, this is one of the best lift at Tremblant. Except on powder days and on busy weekends it is also crowded. The Edge glades are just unique.
