I believe Endeavor primarily functions as an auxiliary learning lift for weekends and peak times.

To my knowledge, it runs all the time. However, it is a beginner lift.

Admittedly, I’m basing that on my experiences. The Gemini Express also accesses all of Endeavor’s trails.

It runs on weekends and holidays for beginners.

Endeavour is spelled with a “u” on the trail map … this is how the space shuttle is spelled, and my guess is it’s a reference to that (it’s nearby “Discovery” and elsewhere in the resort is “Challenger”)

The Challenger lift is actually named after the type steam locomotive, fitting in with the railroad theme used on all the other lifts and trails in the Mary Jane (Galloping Goose, Iron Horse, Pony Express, Super Gauge Express)

The railroad naming theme comes from the adjacent Moffat Tunnel and rail line.

That makes sense, given the monstrous Denver & Rio Grande Western 4-6-6-4 (Challenger) locomotives that worked that line.

Ah that does make more sense for Challenger. On the Winter Park side, in addition to Endeavour and Discovery, there’s Gemini and the former Apollo lifts … so the space program is still well represented on this side of the mountain.

Is there anything that could be changed with this lift?

They could replace the bar or add on like on Discovery. Other than that I don’t think there is much to change.

Are they able to speed up Endeavor or would they have to replace the whole drive if they were to move this to the Looking Glass alignment?

Depends on how it’s set up currently. If it’s set up for 500 FPM, then they merely slow it down via the controls for daily operation (as we do on L-lift). It could be programmed for a slower top speed and then it would need to be set up differently. It’s doubtful they’d need to replace the drive in its entirety.

does anyone know why the grips migrate so much over the season on this lift, with the minimal amount of use it sees?

Is it migrating, or is it the cable stretching. Also, if you are referring to the spray paint marks on the cable, that is where a chair had been previously, it doesn’t mean that the grip migrated away from that, but rather the chairs will be relocated on the cable for various reasons. You don’t want to keep a chair in the same spot the entire life of that cable. One of the techs on here can explain it better.

Slow lifts are kind of a pain, but it isn’t really an out-of-base lift, so I feel it isn’t really a priority.

Also, you can always just lap Looking Glass, Discovery, or Prospector.
