Does anyone know why they don’t run this lift at full speed? Is it because this lift serves easier slopes than the blue chair?

Kinosoo is very much a small town first time/beginner hill and Green services all of the beginner/easy areas used by school, kid, and lesson camp groups during most operating hours. We experimented with the lift speed all throughout its first season and the kids really struggled to load properly and get in position at the full lift speed. Even adults in the area struggled even with perfect spacing, mazes, slope, and signage. Let’s just say most of the local patronage aren’t the pro skiers and boarders that frequent the Rocky Mountain resorts who can handle quick fixed grip lift load areas. Although I understand the frustration from those guests who were at that skill level. The same guests who would complain about the slow speed would then complain about faster or full speed when you would speed it up on a busy weekend. There was no winning…

Running slightly slower added less than two minutes to the overall ride time and gave the operators a few more seconds to react to potential misloads so that was acceptable in our minds to keep things running smoothly and incident free. As well as improve the experience and build confidence for first time/new riders. Green is often the first chairlift many in the area have ever ridden.

Blue could be run faster as it was the more advanced portion of the hill. We rarely had issues with the patrons on that side.

Thank you for responding. This helps me know why they run Green slower.
